Tülay Tosun
Founder Landscape Architect & MSc. Architect
Landscape Architect and Architect MSc. Tülay Tosun is one of the pioneering figures who has played a significant role in the development of contemporary landscape architecture in Turkey. She began her professional journey in 1986, shortly after graduating from the Department of Landscape Architecture at Ege University, by co-founding her firm, Palmiye Peyzaj Düzenleme. At a time when landscape architecture was still a relatively new and under-recognized discipline in Turkey, Tosun advocated for the importance of establishing a strong design relationship with nature and translated this philosophy into built environments.
In 1993, she transformed her firm into Palmiye Peyzaj Mimarlığı Limited Company and soon began undertaking large-scale environmental design projects both in Turkey and abroad. In 1994, she was appointed and elected as the founding and first president of the Antalya Branch of the Chamber of Landscape Architects within the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB), marking a significant milestone in the institutionalization of the profession.
Throughout her career, she has led the design of numerous hotel complexes, theme parks, waterfront landscapes, and recreational open spaces. Her design approach integrates multiple layers of input—climate, topography, cultural context, and user experience—forming a unique landscape language that emphasizes empathy and sensitivity.
In 2023, Tosun completed a non-thesis master's program at Akdeniz University’s Institute of Science, in the Department of Architecture and Design, with a project titled "Green Roofs in Cities", continuing to bridge academic research with professional practice. She also voluntarily participates in academic programs at universities such as Akdeniz University, contributing to the education of new generations of designers.
With nearly four decades of professional experience, Tülay Tosun continues to support both institutional design production and professional advocacy—and sustains her passion for landscape architecture and design practice with the same enthusiasm that marked the beginning of her career.
Studio
Tülay Tosun Design Studio (TTds) is an independent design office focused on landscape architecture, bringing together environmental design with diverse creative disciplines. Operating since 1986, the studio has completed a wide range of qualified projects, including large-scale landscape masterplans, site planning, resort and tourism complex landscaping, thematic open spaces, and private gardens.
The studio’s design philosophy approaches landscape not merely as exterior beautification, but as a sustainable system aligned with ecological rhythms and natural cycles. Each project is shaped through in-depth analysis of topography, climate, vegetation, and cultural context—producing original landscape compositions that are both functional and experiential.
TTds operates with a multidisciplinary team composed of landscape architects, architects, interior architects, graphic designers, industrial designers, and technical draftspeople. This integrated team structure allows the studio to manage all design phases, from concept to implementation, under one roof. By balancing technical precision with creative vision, the studio adopts a holistic approach across all scales.
TTds specializes particularly in large-scale hotel and resort landscapes, water parks, themed children’s areas, pools and poolside environments. Headquartered in Antalya, the studio also maintains a contact office in Istanbul. Through these two hubs, TTds carries out both local and international collaborations—extending its design operations beyond national borders.
To date, the studio has completed projects not only in Turkey but also in countries such as Greece, Egypt, Libya, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Dubai, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. Each project is developed with sensitivity to the local climate, cultural setting, and native landscape characteristics.
TTds evaluates each project through its relationship with context and long-term user experience. It is a landscape architecture studio that does not limit its work to office hours, and continues its creative production with enduring passion and dedication.
